Innovative approaches for marine biodiversity monitoring and assessment of conservation status of nature values in the Baltic Sea (MARMONI)

Project objectives
: to develop concepts for assessment of conservation status of marine biodiversity, including species and habitats and impacts of various human activities. The project developed innovative monitoring and assessment approach based on joint set of marine biodiversity indicators as well as to test in practice the monitoring and assessment techniques. The project was acting in the Baltic Sea in territorial waters and EEZ of Estonia, Latvia, Finland and Sweden. 

Main outcomes:

The project team has elaborated a summary brochure ‘MARMONI activities and results in brief” (2015, in English) with the aim to downsize the project’s information volume and make it easy-to-use for policy makers.

 Also project team has elaborated Layman’s report “The diversity of life in the Baltic Sea” has been produced for the non-expert reader and it addressed a few features of the MARMONI project in an easy understandable language.
